Vanity 800 Numbers, and 800 Number Portability |

WRONG. Some 800 numbers are limited to certain areas, usually within a state or county. If you are not in that area, you get a message that this number is not available from your area.
Most 800 numbers are nationwide, some even worldwide.
I have called a few 800 numbers that would not go through because they said I was not in the calling area, although I was, just that my calls appeared to be coming from New Jersey, so they would not go through.

Let's try this again nice and slow.....please put your thinking cap on!
You've missed the entire point again. The original post was about FALSE ADVERTISING. Not about the TOS or what may be written in a contract before you actually sign up for service.
Once again, the tv ads, internet ads and newspaper ads all state "Unlimited Service." In commercial trade, the definition of false advertising is: that which may tend to confuse the average consumer as to a product design, claim or price.
Anyone seeing these ads would rightfully assume that "unlimited service" means "unlimited service." That's all it takes to be victim of false advertising. And, I assure you, a lawsuit under these circumstances would be successful.
Please...please...don't mention anything about contracts or terms of service again as those are irrelevant to the issue of false advertising. Don't make me bang your head against the wall like the three stooges.
If you do choose to respond....please take a minute to think before you type and understand the actual argument. You'll appear a whole lot smarter.
Jenn.
See, this is where you are wrong my friend.
Look at it from a much larger perspective; every company that offers a service or good in a quantity, can claim it is unlimited, as long as the fine print covers their butts.
Your internet provider? Sure they might tell you that you get 6MB download speed, unlimited usage, per month. But I can guarantee, every internet provider has a "cap" of how much bandwidth they consider "normal" for residential usage, and once you cross that threshold, they'll throttle your service down, cut you off, or charge you more for further bandwidth.
Vonage, operates the same. If you look at the advertisements, (I'll try to take a screenshot of the current commercial running on tv), whenever it says Unlimited, it also has a [b:0eeea282c8]*[/b:0eeea282c8] and some fine print that tell you to read the Terms of Service, as Vonage defines Unlimited as a certain limit.
And to be honest, at the end of the day BOTH of our points of view are incorrect. Why? Cause all of this can be avoided by the Terms of Service. Even if a potential customer see's an advertisement that says "Unlimited" he or she, has the responsibility as a consumer, to read any and all contracts they sign, before they sign them. I can tell you for a fact I read important documents before I sign them.
But, it doesn't matter. People will never take the time to read it. So instead they'll waste their time and money signing up for a service they might not want because they didn't do some research before hand. *shrug* All we can do is point out the same things I've said here, day in, day. Some people understand, some don't.

Use Router as Vonage Adapter? |

No, it would not be possible. Vonage does not share the SIP credendials needed for using their service on non-Vonage-branded devices.

See people sign up for the Business class rate plans with Vonage and think "Ok, this will work great for my business, and its affordable". For a small buisness, this is true.
But if your business does that much calling, or more, per month, you are not a small business.
"Small business" is defined differently by different people. The IRS, the Small Business Administration, the President of the United States, the New Jersey Department of Labor, and AnonCusRep all appear to define the term differently.
Vonage quotes a price for 'business service'; the adjective 'small' does not appear in their advertisements. The price is approximately twice that of residence service. According to earlier posts in this thread, they consider 3,000 minutes per month to be acceptable use for both. (Why, then, should anybody buy their business service?) As I previously wrote, that's only a few calls per day. One or two individuals sharing an office would seem to meet anyone's definition of small business, and might well spend two hours a day on the telephone between them -- about 3,600 minutes/month. Think of a small insurance broker, a realtor, a doctor's or a lawyer's practice, etc. I work alone out of my home office and use nearly 2,500 minutes/month of air time on my cell phone when I'm on the road. I haven't bothered to count the minutes used on my Vonage business service from the home office -- it is probably close to 3,000 minutes per month, and Vonage has never complained about it in seven years.
My point is that if the carrier's terms of service give them the right to suspend their service when their customer exceeds some arbitrary usage threshold, it is misleading to advertise this as unlimited service.

Hi there!
Would it be possible to get rid of the vonage adapter altogether and use custom firmware like DD-WRT to setup a Linksys router with VOIP support as the vonage adapter as well?
Just curious!
